My dive boat booked my airline tickets for me. I'm trying to take some comfort in that.

We always book our air with the boat operator or with the travel agent. We have had many cancellations and changes and they have Always taken care of alternate arrangements! Also, I am SO happy to hear the Sowrong airport does not allow smoking anymore! That is wonderful news!!!

We had no problems with either Sriwijaya or Lion Air. Our luggage was overweight, of course, but I was able to bargain with them on each flight and they gave us a break. Never paid more than $ 20 or so.
Sriwijaya food was unidentifiable indeed. There was a schedule change on the return from Sorong to Makassar but the Resort (Raja Ampat Dive Lodge) knew about and it just meant leaving paradise an hour earlier. Lion Air was delayed an hour on the Makassar to Bali leg, but free Wi-Fi all over the airport made that bearable too. Lion Air's plane looked new and shiny.
After I was fearful and worried before, I would not hesitate to use either again.
