I am flying from Bali to Sorong to head on aLOB in Raja Ampat, and on the day I would prefer to travel, Garuda does not offer flights. I prefer to fly and have a buffer day before getting on my LOB. Garuda only flies the morning I would be leaving on the LOB. The alternative is to fly through Jakarta on Pelita Air. I’ve read the horror stories about Lion and Bastik, but all I could find about Pelita is from nearly 20 years ago. Does anyone have more recent info about Pelita and its reliability?

I flew them CGK to DPS on my most recent trip. Had no issues. Other than that, I dont have much info. "Upgrade'' to business class was very reasonable and worth it for the extra baggage, seat comfort and quicker check-in.

Great, thanks for the tips.

FWIW Garuda flies DPS-SOQ every day-just not non-stop. Gotta go through CGK-more time and money. I would still take the Garuda one stop (DPS->CGK->SOQ) rather than fly Lion/Batik/Wings. Can't comment on Pelita reliability. You could look at FlightAware as an indicator. I suspect they're still state owned since Pelita morphed out of the in house air service of Pertamina (state oil company) and during COVID there was talk of having Pelita replace Garuda as flag carrier, but that's a guess.
