hey sportserjohn- do you know which instructor will be doing you AOW?- I did mine at sea dwellers and the instructor I had was a great chap.

They are a pretty good operation for check out dives- I would recommend them to any newbie, they are nice and safety conciuos and the bigger boat means you won't get as sick - only downside in March is the rolling spring breaks which means there will proabably be more people there.

All,
Many thanks for all of the help on this issue, both here and PM. After considering all the input, just decided to push the trip to mid April. All of a sudden everything is easier, less expensive, and warmer. Plus, we get to miss the spring break madness. I was impatient to get my OW cert dives in... just will have to wait a few weeks.

Decided on Cozumel mid april. Renting a 'villa' - read that a small house - GO figure, my 12 year old daughter is upset about taking an extra week off from school... when I was that age, that would have been like a gift from heaven.

Thanks again to all...

Jim

You should like Cozumel. I stayed in town (San Miguel) when I was there and had a blast. You will learn how to say "no" when walking through the plaza, but it is part of the atmosphere of the place. And bargaining is an art form there, so you should learn it! Have a great time!
