Hello everyone!

I have an Oceanic Alpha 8- it was just serviced in December and has less than 60 dives.

I was diving in salt water recently and noticed early into the dive that the SPG pressure gage was half full with water. I didnt have any water in the 2nd stage, and I dont think I could have flooded it.

Does anyone have any info on how this could have happened? What should I do now?
(the last time I used it, the reg was not rinsed by me...)

Thanks!

Visible water in the SPG is not caused by regulator flooding. I happen as a result of the SPG case or case seals failing. Time for replacement.

Yep replace it with one possible exception. Older SPGs had faces that could be unscrewed. If yours happens to be one of those, then open it up, flush the dickens out of it, replace the Oring and see if it floods again. I dive a lot of vintage SPGs so I see this from time to time. If it's a modern, sealed unit chunk it and replace it.

Water in the reg will end up inside the SPG's Bourdon tube and will not be visible inside the gauge. You have a case leak. Replace the SPG.
