Well I'am back up here in New Hampshire on Winisquam Lake again....this time I have a canoe with an electric motor....Thank God. Made my 1st dive yesterday and found 4 anchors!! These anchors are covered with a half inch of iron oxide...orange black and "smelly" So I try and wack most of it off on rocks underwater....Every time I do this I am surrounded by fish...Smallmouth Bass Large mouth Bass even Perch....So much for the old adage of "Don't make noise ...you'll scare the fish"

Hello Porgy----------How long are you up for? I'm doing a night dive at Nubble on Friday and maybe a boat charter on Winnie Sunday. I have been wanting to explore around Ahern Park - maybe Sunday afternoon if you're still there???

Hey O.F. Sorry out of here Sat. Ahern park should be good...looks like a nice ledge near there....My wife and I motored "almost" to the park...but wind picked up and I was alittle unsure in the canoe ...we are at the opposite end of the lake....#2 dive this morning...another Anchor...and acually was feeding a Bass crushed mussels and crushed snails....He shadowed me the whole dive.....at the end he brought a friend

How do you find the anchors in the muck --- magnetic locator??? Sorry to have missed diving with you. Give a little advance notice next time!

I try and dive rocky areas .....sometimes like today I get 50/50...some rock...some flat muck......I find most anchors snug under a rock.....can't miss that orange bubble oxide.....We'll get together sometime O.F. If you dive that ledge near Ahern post your dive

Good morning Porgy - I did end up diving this area yesterday morning. For a quick dive report - 68 minute dive - max depth 30' - air 74 - water at surface 78 - thermocline at 28' = 68 - viz 20' - shallow silt layer that settles quickly - found a couple lures - a couple 12" bass checked me out but kept their distance even though I tried feeding them. Great shallow dive. I'm not going to say much more because this is one of those spots you want to keep a secret! Next time you come up you should dive it [or we] ........... Joe
