We are headed to Oahu during Christmas 2018 and looking forward to doing some beautiful diving! What's the water temp. like in the winter? Do we need more than a 3mm suit?
I was there in March then May of last year. Both times I wore a 3mm shorty and was fine. If I recall, surface water temp was 80 - 82F.

We usually go with a 3mm full suit. Water temp is low to mid 70's in winter. Most of the locals use 5mm or thicker if you can believe it.

I was there last November. It was so warm I kept having to let water into my suit to cool down some.
Don't know about Oahu, but on the Big Island the difference between water temperatures in mid-November and mid-december can be 2-3 degrees F.
