Doing my first ever Lake Michigan dive in mid July in the Chicago area. What might I expect to see and how good is the visibility normally at that time of year.

Nearly all diving in Lake Michigan is shipwreck diving. What you see depends on which wreck you dive. Wrecks vary from piles of rubble like the Flora Hill to nearly intact freighters like S.S. Wisconsin. Visibility is variable and depends on the location and the weather. The vis close to shore and toward the south end of the lake is not as good as it is a few miles out. Average visibility off of Waukegan has been ranging from fifty to sixty feet for the last few weeks.
