Hello everyone,

I’ll be on the Bottom Scratcher this coming Easter Sunday. My brother will be doing his check out dives that morning with his class. I totally jazzed, this will be the first time I go diving since becoming certified last November – way over due. My plan is to dive at least every other weekend and as I become more proficient and confident, join you guys at the Wrinkles dives. Is anyone else on the Bottom Scratcher this Sunday? I’ll give a report on how it went on Monday.

sweet have fun! I did my first dive since my certification Yesterday. I have been certified since december. Its a great thrill. Enjoy! I will not be on the bottom scratcher as I will be in San Carlos Mexico diving :)

Paul,

I bet you're glad you're finally getting to do some dives!

You don't have to be "proficient" to come join us at a Wrinkles Dive. The whole point of the Wrinkles Dive is getting together with new people and meeting some new dive buddies. We're happy to have new divers come along for the fun. In fact, the Wrinkles Dive at Leo Carrillo will be perfect for a new diver, since it's really shallow and easy. Bring your brother. It'll be fun!

Enjoy your Easter dive!

Paul, Why the long delay? Lots of water in that there ocean and lots of diving was done in November, December and there was even some diving done in Jan, Feb and March. Get out and dive. Need a partner, just holler someone will often answer or give me a pm.

Go diving every week that it is not raining hard. Keeps you in shape and your skills sharp. If you own your own gear it is only $4.50-$5.00 to beach dive.

Pasley you are right - I need to be diving. I've finally pieced together my gear and I'm ready to rock n roll! You'll be seeing me out there on the beaches.

Congrats stimpy,

Its about time. Its pretty addicting once you get gear and start going regularly. I only have 16 logged dives since I got certified in July, but 5 of them were in march!

The bottom scratcher is a great boat...the crew is a hoot. Greg (the capt.) has a million stories. The cook (always forget her name) is lively and makes a mean spaghetti. Have fun & let us know how it went.

Debbie is an outrageously fun person, an excellent cook, and an enthusiastic diver. The spaghetti/meatballs and fresh garlic bread on the return crossing is always something to look forward to. Have a great trip!

Had an awesome time on Sunday. You guys wern't kidding about the bagpipes. Was buddied up with a guy named Ron from Kansas. He was very patient and gave me a lot of good pointers. Did three dives – two at “Lion’s Head” and the last one at a place called the “Quarry”. According to Ron vis was 30-40’ and according to my gauge the water temp was a balmy 60 degrees. Was severely under-weighted on the first dive and had to return to the boat for more weight. I think my breathing and buoyancy at this point sucks and hopefully with more diving will be able to use less weight (I weigh 140# and ended up using 24# around my waist). Had a little problem returning to the boat on the second dive due to the current. We came up ~300 yards from the boat after an awesome 20 minute dive and decided to do a surface swim back. So we put in our snorkels and started for the boat. After 5 minutes of fighting the current we realized that we weren’t getting any closer to the boat. Luckily the awesome crew saw that we needed a little help and tossed out a buoy and towed us back in – a little embarrassing put a great learning experience. I thought the DM and crew would be pissed at us but everyone was really cool and understanding (Debbie was awesome). Overall a great day diving and my brother was certified. Hopefully we can make it out to the Wrinkles dive on Sunday the 10th in the morning and meet some of you scubaboarders and get in a dive!

Paul
