lol thats a good one, my comment is honey looks may have gotten you through high school but not in college especially my class.
lol
now how about a "honor student" who blows his TASP exemption by taking the test and does horrible, basically lowest level of remidials possible(took about 30 minutes to do a 3.5 hour test, basically blew it off) and will be forced to take them before taking college level classes which will put him about 1.5 years behind his peers (it gets better) well when i signed the guy out i had to hold a straight face as i had seen better scores from a couple of people that where stoned out of there mind the previous day. i signed him out and figured we see him again in a couple of years, well i was wrong because about an hour later i answer the phone to get honor students mother on the phone to ask (nearly screaming as the phone was on the desk and i was just listening so my ears didnt bleed)bout this test and why her "valedictorian son" was now having to take 3 levels of remidal classes instead of the taking the clases he wanted. well i explained to her the facts that her son didnt have to take the TASP as he was exempt if he had the qualifications she talked about, then she started spouting them off, act, sat etc at this point i was just trying to dump her off as this was going to be the idiot call of the day. After listening to this tirade i said thats fine ma'am but the fact remains he took the test and in the process removed any exemption he had and with his scores will be required to take those remidal classes before taking college level. well at this point she just went off and said well will see about this and i will sue the school if it requires at this point i muffled the phone as i was laughing so hard and so was everyone else in the office as this person has obviously no clue. after calming down and letting her finish her rant, i asked her a would she like the number of the colleges legal department and the number for TASP austin office. The lady said sure, so i said i have one more question how old is your son by chance? she responded he's 18, at this point i knew i had one and i just set the hook to end the call with" ma'am unfortuantely you will be not be able to do anything for your son as he is of legal age and you arent able to take care of things like this for him (which is true because she cant even sign his name on school forms) for at which point she said yeah right and hung up on me. When the call was done i was like man that was rough and it all lasted about 2.5 minutes. it gets even better later that night when she tried this again in person/
After all of this on the phone she came in person and did the same thing to our evening crew while i was at dinner and got back just in the middle of it and just watched and listen as it was just comical at this point since the night crew were getting really upset as she was causing a scene and disrupting the testing we were issuing and i was going to step in but when she threatend my supervisor i picked up the phone and qued the intercom and call campus security to have her removed and to call local PD for bodily harm threats. at this point she recognized my voice and said your the twirp that answered the phone earlier, and i said yes i am. At this point she just decided to rip me a new one saying that her son wouldnt have to take those classes as there was no state law that said what i said on the phone and that i was lieing (which is wrong) for which i respond just to get a reaction and to kill time till the cops arrived "was unless state law changed in the past 12 hours and i wasnt informed with thats not correct and heres the link/paper to prove it" for which i we have a copy of the state remedial requirements on the desk we keep for instances like this. the code was put on the counter for her to read and about this time campus security arrived with local PD to escort her off campus and to issue her with a order to stay off school property or face trespass charges.
in the end mom had no say and the kid had to take the classes and her threats were idol because the legal department never heard from her. It made for a intresting day
its amazing some of the stories and we always seem to get this type of situation the closer it gets to beginning of the semester especially for the fall. Honor student yeah prove it.
