It will suck even more if you don't study and end up as a checker at Vons............play now, pay later.

Just finished all of mine Tuesday. I only had 2 this semester. I tested out of one of the classes at the start of the semester so I only had the two classes to take care of.

So, good luck all.

(When in doubt, choose "c")

Yeah, I just completed 120+ pages of reports and two presentations, had to manage the dive shop this week and have another 50 pages to go next week. And then all I have is 4 finals, the finals will be the easiest part. if the shop gets slow, i will be fortunate enough to study

Well, just to spread some more sunshine, in the real world, you don't have finals, you have "Performance Reviews." :p
Exactly.... and for those of us .... what is the PC term here..?? ok fine... OLD students back at it again, we have to deal with finals and the real world reviews...........all at the same time.... how not fair is that???? :)

PS... Gfisher.... your profile doesn't give your age, but I did notice we have the same birthday!!! Hope you have a good one. I plan to.... will be diving in the Riviera Maya..... whoopee!!!!!!

Just finished up this afternoon. WOOOOHOOOOO. I did ok too.

Now a WHOLE MONTH off. ahhh.

Finals can be a pain in the butt,

one piece of advice for freshmen never wait till the week before to study/get a project done etc because i will cause you more grief then you want to deal with and will just add to the freshmen 15 (trust me i know what im talking about) its better to get it done well in advance then working on a research paper until 4am the day its due when you have to be at class at 7am

but for me this semester i caught a break (if you want to call it that) as due to having surgury a couple of weeks ago i only have to take 1 final next week and then the rest arent due until end of next may (thank goodness for incompletes or i would be in trouble as i havent gotten a chance to complete them). But i should have the others finished up before end of january as i have them shot i just now have to print and matte them (Im a photography student) and in may of next year i will finally graduate with my degree.

I hate GIVING finals. All the bad students cry out how unfair the "system" is to them, and try every sleaze tactic in the modern U.S. to boost their grade. Hardly anyone cries about how disappointed their parents will be anymore, nor do they use the sympathetic "I'll lose my scholarship" line.

Nowadays, its popular to use some variant of legal intimidation, or claim a vague social or medical condition, that of course they have no documentation for. Funny thing is, I never hear about this junk until THIS WEEK.

I don't want to even imagine what its like for instructors at a liberal school. Anybody else teach at the college level recently?

i dont teach but i work in the testing center at the college i go to and its amazing to see and hear the stories that some of these slackers pull as there not orginal anymore. we could probably swap a few stories on highlight students. i have a few TASP and TSI(since your in texas) stories that would have you rolling in the isle

on the other hand those students that pull those type of students in finals week are the same ones that dont go to class or pay attention but then beg and plead to get a test reopened or extended because of lame excuse, its truley sad that most of these kids got babied through grade school and expect the same in college, sorry to smack you with reality but this is college you are responsible for your self not mommy and daddy anymore.

My favorite story is not mine, but a friend's from a University of California school. A fellow instructor of hers had a girl who wanted her grade boosted. She scheduled an office visit during "off hours", and took her shirt off right in front of the guy. Didn't say a word, just took it off and stood there.

The instructor didn't say a word either. Got up from his desk, approached the student, walked PAST the student, and out the door.

lol thats a good one, my comment is honey looks may have gotten you through high school but not in college especially my class.

lol

now how about a "honor student" who blows his TASP exemption by taking the test and does horrible, basically lowest level of remidials possible(took about 30 minutes to do a 3.5 hour test, basically blew it off) and will be forced to take them before taking college level classes which will put him about 1.5 years behind his peers (it gets better) well when i signed the guy out i had to hold a straight face as i had seen better scores from a couple of people that where stoned out of there mind the previous day. i signed him out and figured we see him again in a couple of years, well i was wrong because about an hour later i answer the phone to get honor students mother on the phone to ask (nearly screaming as the phone was on the desk and i was just listening so my ears didnt bleed)bout this test and why her "valedictorian son" was now having to take 3 levels of remidal classes instead of the taking the clases he wanted. well i explained to her the facts that her son didnt have to take the TASP as he was exempt if he had the qualifications she talked about, then she started spouting them off, act, sat etc at this point i was just trying to dump her off as this was going to be the idiot call of the day. After listening to this tirade i said thats fine ma'am but the fact remains he took the test and in the process removed any exemption he had and with his scores will be required to take those remidal classes before taking college level. well at this point she just went off and said well will see about this and i will sue the school if it requires at this point i muffled the phone as i was laughing so hard and so was everyone else in the office as this person has obviously no clue. after calming down and letting her finish her rant, i asked her a would she like the number of the colleges legal department and the number for TASP austin office. The lady said sure, so i said i have one more question how old is your son by chance? she responded he's 18, at this point i knew i had one and i just set the hook to end the call with" ma'am unfortuantely you will be not be able to do anything for your son as he is of legal age and you arent able to take care of things like this for him (which is true because she cant even sign his name on school forms) for at which point she said yeah right and hung up on me. When the call was done i was like man that was rough and it all lasted about 2.5 minutes. it gets even better later that night when she tried this again in person/

After all of this on the phone she came in person and did the same thing to our evening crew while i was at dinner and got back just in the middle of it and just watched and listen as it was just comical at this point since the night crew were getting really upset as she was causing a scene and disrupting the testing we were issuing and i was going to step in but when she threatend my supervisor i picked up the phone and qued the intercom and call campus security to have her removed and to call local PD for bodily harm threats. at this point she recognized my voice and said your the twirp that answered the phone earlier, and i said yes i am. At this point she just decided to rip me a new one saying that her son wouldnt have to take those classes as there was no state law that said what i said on the phone and that i was lieing (which is wrong) for which i respond just to get a reaction and to kill time till the cops arrived "was unless state law changed in the past 12 hours and i wasnt informed with thats not correct and heres the link/paper to prove it" for which i we have a copy of the state remedial requirements on the desk we keep for instances like this. the code was put on the counter for her to read and about this time campus security arrived with local PD to escort her off campus and to issue her with a order to stay off school property or face trespass charges.

in the end mom had no say and the kid had to take the classes and her threats were idol because the legal department never heard from her. It made for a intresting day

its amazing some of the stories and we always seem to get this type of situation the closer it gets to beginning of the semester especially for the fall. Honor student yeah prove it.
