I will like to know what wrecks are your favorites around MA and RI, i dove the city of Salisbury twice, but i know is a lot more out there some well know and others waiting to be discover.

Thank you

i havent spent alot of time on mass wrecks.
but the pinthis is a nice dive generally because conditions are so nice....
the wreck itself is nothing spectacular. but theres alot of fish around
as far as RI..
o gez where to start..
the u-853 is the post popular, and one of my favriots...but i think the L8 is my personal favriote right now

Hi Diesel,
I dive my own boat out of Mystic CT, or sometime charter with capt Gary out of New London. I have done the U-853 but have not heard of the L8. Could you give me more info?
BTW have you ever done The Pinnacles, between Block and Montauck?

Chris

L8? Sounds interesting since you like it better than the 853.

I dove the pinnacles. It was a nice dive. Lots of swim throughs,
enormous boulders, lots of lobsters, crabs, dogfish.

Have any of you dove the Volund?

ive never dove the pinnacles.
the L8 is a WW1 era sub that was sunk as a target in 1926
its still intact and laying on a 45 deg list.
the viz is usually crapy due to its location. and sits in 110 fsw.
i dunno why i like this wreck, .. i just do...

Neither do I Ray:)!
It's on my "Been there, Done that" list.

In MA my new favorite is the Baleen. If you have not done it already, the Poling stern is very nice. The Mars is a great dive if the vis cooperates (high tides in spring is best). The Salsbury bow is beter than the stern IMHO. As Ray said, the Pinthis is nice but usually COLD. The Alma EA Holmes, which I recently did is very interesting but the vis can be low until winter.

Just a few that come to mind.

so im gonna guess your not a fan of the L8? :)

That would be a good guess my friend!:D

IMHO if one wants to dive a submarine then how can the Bass be beat (in RI waters)! :05: Another dive - though tricky due to the oil around the site - is the 101.:11: I know many people discount that dive as a waste of time, but there are some neat spaces below deck to explore. A whole work shop in fact!
