Joel, you lead such a rough life. It must be so tough being you. ;)

so, guys, how was it? chris, how was the new bp/w? mel, did you go? linda, was it warmer than you thought? jason, another good drysuit day? i miss you all...

I didn't go, I'm still in Charlotte but will be leaving soon. What days will you be out of commission because of the Lasik? When you get over that we can plan some days to dive at the quarry.

Yep, it was great! I didn't quite have the fit on the bp/w right, but I'll get it next time. I posted a tiny trip report over on wreckmaniac.com but I'll sum it up here.

Linda showed up and brought a friend whose name I forgot but he was nice. Jason showed up and so did Glenn (knightdiver). We got in the water about 11:30 am, and the water wasn't bad at all. The computer said it was 56 at the coldest and I never felt it at all with just a 5mm, skin, hood and gloves. Everyone else had on about the same except for Jason who was diving dry of course.

The dive itself was great, and the vis was about the best I've seen it in the quarry, about 20 feet or so. We dropped down at buoy 4 (a car), and then took a rope over to the bus, and then the crusher. The crusher was huge and I had no idea how big it was when I saw a tiny bit of it on open water check outs last year. For some reason I was guzzling air like a swimming compressor and was the reason we had to cut the dive short. I felt terrible about it <sigh> but atleast I got to meet everyone.

Linda pulled a muscle walking up the slope and sat out a second dive, and I had to take my rental stuff back to Gypsy's before they closed.

I removed about 8 lbs because of the bp and sta, but I should have removed more. I loved the set up and it dove awesomely despite my crotchstrap being too big and the wetbelt sliding down my butt, hehe.

I think the best thing about the dive is now I know I can dive 50's water with just my 5 mil. That's a huge boost to my confidence that will hopefully get me diving more.
