EZ Spring Fin Straps- likely to hurt?

Sounds like your springs are to tight. Correctly fitted they will be one of your better gear investments.
 
I have had major back surgery with 3 vertebra fused in my lower back. It took quite a bit of the flexibility out of my back. The spring straps are MUCH easier to don and doff my fins especially when trying to hang on to a ladder with one arm and use the other to pull the straps down and the fins off. They have been one of the best scuba related things I have purchased. That said, scuba gear is a very personal choice, what works for one may not be the choice of another.
