I really had no desire to get another boat...upkeep, storage, maint, etc, etc. But, since I started diving again...the idea of a boat just keeps getting better and better.

as gas prices continue to rise, you're going to see more and more of them for sale at rock-bottom-prices also.

Couple of us were talking about that the other day....I am seeing some great deals out there right now on some used boats. Foreclosure sales are popping up around here also.

you're going to see the same thing with Condo's. Folks aren't coming to the beach as much with high gas prices, so condo's aren't renting and providing rental income to make condo payments.

People won't be able to sell them with the market saturated. There will be lots of forclosures. I read an article in the Destin Log last year about how many properties were for sale compared the year before. It had trippled. Forclosures were much higher also. (can't exact amount higher).

They had similar problems after Ivan and other hurricanes came through. Sand filled their parking lots and tore out their beach accesses (boardwalks) from the condos and they couldn't rent them. Lots of people lost their condo's be cause they were so dependent on the rental income.

The big problem is for people who just bought condos in the last few years when the market peaked. The same condo that sold 3 years ago for $500k is now getting $350k to $400k. So they can't be sold for what they were paid for often, and instead of taking the loss people are letting them go to forclosure.

WOW! What great luck, GFWB will buy a boat to take me out in the Gulf and the tourist population will go down at the jetties - I love high gas prices :rofl3:.

Oh dang, I was going to buy a cave diving boat, not one for the Gulf....guess we got our wires crossed. :D

I think that is called a submarine - are they getting cheaper too? I guess you won't be needing doubles on your dives either :D.
