My age makes me always view the new stuff with suspect. My education and job forces me to embrace the new so I have an odd percpetive I think. My thoughts is that this does not sound like a good idea-an interesting idea but I think I will not be the one wanting to try it.
 
Interesting that the researchers believe that buoyancy is controlled by constantly adding and removing air from the BC. I guess they're not divers.
 
"To rise in the water, a diver adds air to the buoyancy control device. To sink, air is let out. If the buoyancy is not adjusted correctly, a diver may rise too rapidly or descend too quickly to an unsafe depth, risking serious injury or sometimes death," Jenny says.

I think it's called an ROV, my next project, when I figure out how to send control signals down a 500 ft wire.
