Hi!

Does anyone have ever stay at El Cozumeleno Beach Resort before? How far is it to Blue Angel distance wise. Is it a walkable distance? I plan to stay at El Coz. because of the wife and kids (non-diver & 6 yrs old kid) so they have something to do on the beach at El.Coz meanwhile I'm going off to Blue Angel.

thanks.

We stayed at El Coz for 4 days a few years back. It is not walkable to Blue Angel or just about anywhere for that matter. The hotel is to far north for just about any dive op to pick you up. You will have to get a car or a cab. I am sure your family will enjoy the resort.

I have stayed at El-coz. twice. Dec of 2009, and Nov. of 2010. Overall it is a nice clean quite resort, several pools, putt-putt, sandy beach. Good food, Large clean rooms, great maid service.

It is about 4-5 kilometers from the north end of town. So you would have to rely on transportation to the dive-op.

Enjoyable resort.

If I'm not mistaken, Scuba-Du has a Dive Op there. Lobster House and a Golf Course are in walking distance. Blue Angel is way south. The food is like all A I food, ok but nothing special.
I will never stay there again, just not for me, and too far from town square. Room was ok, one
of the staff was a real &itch and just rude to everyone. She's probably gone by now.

FYI, Blue Angel is south of town, but not way south.

ggun,
Right, I stand corrected, not way south, as in Punta Sur, but south of town.
How about south of the lighthouse, and north of El Cid.;)
That's better. Don't let it happen again. :D

If you are not locked into El-Coz. yet. another option for the wife and kid is the Allegro. They have one of the best beaches for a resort on the island, lots of sand.
Also they have one of the pools set up as a water park set-up for the kids.
Now this one is way south of town. Op's will pick you up at the pier.

scuba du does pick up there. there is a shop on the beach to sign up and pay for your dives with them. wife and i stayed at melia two years ago. long boat ridesbut no complaints about scuba du. good dive op.

I stayed at El Coz and dove with the onsite dive op Scuba Du. In the morning, they paid for the taxi ride to their other shop which is at another hotel. Then had to lug my equip thru the hotel to the boat.

On the return, I had to wait for another boat to come and take us back to El Coz. Too time consuming for me. If I stay at El Coz again, I will just taxi it to Blue Angel. I dove with them twice but always dove with Mateo. He's the best for me.

El Coz is in the "northern hotel zone", a little over a mile north of the road that leads to the Airport on the north end of downtown.

Blue Angel is almost exactly one mile south of the stop light at Margaritaville on the south end of down town.

with about a mile of town in between...walking in the morning to catch your dive is most likely NOT an option, unless you get up awfully early.

Send Jeanie an e-mail at Blue Angel and ask her what their policy is about the Northern Hotel Zone and what options you have to get to them. She will work with you as much as she can.

I stayed there several years ago. I went with several friends for a quick visit and didn't dive that time. It's a nice little resort for family and friends who aren't divers. The pool is really cool with a neat put-put course. They also have a game room, big chess board etc.... a really good family resort with decent food and drinks. Also, they had really good snorkeling.

With that said, I wouldn't stay there for a dive trip. There are other resorts that are further south that can accomdate divers and their family. I think it would be too big of a hassle to try to dive from there. However, if you don't plan on diving then it's a great family resort. I hope that helps.
