I'm a jack of all trades and master of none. I got my MBA because the company I worked for paid for it. I really have a problem with paying someone to drive you absolutely nuts.

Many companies these days are outsourcing their IT needs, which appears to be the way things will be with many other work areas in the future. The initial reasoning for this is because the turnover for IT guys a couple years ago was so high that it was significantly more expensive to hire someone, train them, give them benefits, just to have them leave in 6 months. Then employers figured out, hey, isn't this wonderful, no paying for benefits and virtually no overhead...and they starting doing it with other departments. Yes it is an employers market but there are still plenty of jobs out there...
the best way to get a job is hands down through networking. I can't tell you how many resumes I threw in the horizontal filing system (ie, trash can) from people who sent their resume to HR blindly...this goes for any field, not just IT. On the other hand, a referral from a key stakeholder pretty much insured you an interview, even if the job wasn't open. If the right person likes you enough, they'll find a job for you.

Valuable Education... Let me see, I have completed my Open Water, Advanced Open Water, CPR and First Aid training, UW Nav, Search and Recovery we found the lift bag that we lost while performing the drills (haha) , Half of my Rescue Diver (just need to save someone in the water :) volunteers?) - Cave and wreak to be completed by summer and I hope to have my Dive Master within the year. I want instructor so I can live in a bungalow on a tropical island and dive while people pay me to teach them when they vacation on my island. :D

My BS helped me in manufacturing and computers when I was young and climbing the ladders but now I am old and slow. Sciba diving has helped me really enjoy life and appreciate the pleasures around me.

I'm tossing the idea of moving to a Caribbean island, Bonaire for instance for a couple months atleast. If I am going to do something like that, might as well do it now why I dont have a family.

I would have to talk Carrie into going with me too. I can't leave such a wonderful person like her just to go play in the Caribbean for a little bit.

Hmmm, to quit work on the spot and move the Caribbean...shhhhhhaaaaaaweeeeeeeet.

B.A., Communications, University of Texas at Arlington

And if I live to be as old as Moses, I'll never know why I minored in Business. ;-0 I wish it had been Radio/TV instead.

Save yourself some money...just shoplift some stuff and get a 2 month sentence to a minimum security prison...I promise there will be more to do there than there is on Bonaire..and if they have a pond the diving will probably be better..

At least its taking a career to get Bachelors degree in the Criminal Justice field. 3 credits a semester...lets see...about 4 more years! Have an Assoc. of Aviation Maintenance and about 135 credits of anything that looked interesting.

Ber Rabbit once bubbled...
I have a B.A. in geology but my job involves manual labor that has nothing to do with my degree or any other for that matter! SIGH!
Ber :bunny:
Geology is so cool. I really used to love it. So what is the job market like these days? Last I heard these IT complainers have nothing to grip about. ;)

I'd like to know the same thing. I've been thinking about getting a degree in geology.
