Is that a category? I have a B.A. in geology but my job involves manual labor that has nothing to do with my degree or any other for that matter! SIGH!

I sat on our Provincial Advanced Education Council Exceutive for a bit and ( Assn of College Boards of Governors) we commissioned a study of Eductional outcomes in relation to education level. The results clearly showed that those with 2-4 year Applied College or Tech programs came out in the long run as the quickest to find employment and highest overall earners. Bach. Degrees came out much lower while eventually the Masters caught up with the tech programs but took awhile to overcome the "costs" incurred in pursueing their education. Phd's seldom really caught up with those 2-4 year programs due to the high costs of the education and the years in which the Tech person was earning while the Phd candidate was paying.

As a result I have tried to convince my kids to go to BCIT or some other Tech based school. No luck so far, the first went to Simon Fraser University and is studying Forensic Psyc. Hmmmm I wonder if she is trying to figure out her parents. :)

I am in a similar boat as Scubaredneck. I am a year out from finishing my Masters in Fisheries and I am going onto a PhD after graduation.

I am just not ready for the real world!!!

Hey I don't think this is very fair, I'm working on my FIRST BA so I don't think I should have to put only two years in college, oh well too late, I did :D =-) :D

My B.S. is in Genetics and I did work in the field for a time.

Now I BS about many other things, and just go diving.

I'll have a Masters in Information Technology sometime around Fall.
I'm glad to see the Info. Tech. masters degrees are becoming more popular.

I'll have my BS in Management of Information Systems in May (cum laude - wohoo!), and its a more business-oriented degree. Its got a little bit of comp. sci. and a lot more of Business. There's always got to be someone to translate "geek" to the corporate execs. Unfortunately, those are the ones who suffer when the economy goes bad.

I'm hoping it will pay off, since graduation is just around the corner .

BTW - congrats on your progress!

Thank you sir.

I am a little distraught at the computer field right now just because of the way the economy and overall job market is. However, I do know these things go in cycles.

I have a decent job right now that is giving me more experience and going to school fulltime for that degree so I guess I cant complain.

I find employers are extremely picky right now as it is an employers market.

I need to go on a diving vacation.

I have lots of friends in IT that are out of work and cannot find jobs. There is a huge surplus of out of work IT people from the implosion of a lot of the high tech companies, which, when coupled with the decreases other brick and mortar companies have made in IT spending, equate to a real downturn in the technology employment sector.
