Spoken to Shearwater ?
Yes, a lot. They have been helpful in servicing three times in a row and replacing finally. But problems continue, so I have started to think if there is some external factor that affects this. Nerd cable is my strongest candidate for this, but experts think that is unlikely.

There is a design flaw in the nerd that leads to the pressure sensor becoming unseated. I experienced the same thing and had to send it in to Richard at dive tronix. Sounds like you are not in NA, but your local service center will need to replace your nerd. My sense from your story is that whatever fix they have done isn’t working and it just needs to be replaced.
Happened twice with me, but the good folks at Shearwater gave me a new unity both times no cost (they even payed the absurd brazilian customs taxes! )

Gave not, replaced

I dive a lot in high mineral fresh water. I've found the minerals can dry and clog the pressure sensor port. Rensing with warm tap water usually does the trick.

Mine has been replaced by Shearwater as well.

Thank's, will try that.

parallel question:
Any „statistical“ differences in „failures“ between various Nerd2 variants, based on the connector type?

(Motive: there is a unit with a fischer nerd2 that I’m interested to buy, I can buy w or wo the nerd; but with the nerd it’s a nice deal; I’m debating if I should get the whole package or replace the Fischer cable and find another monitor)

The nerds are the same, but a Fischer cable is generally the less reliable connection to use underwater in comparison to the wet mate 5pin AK.

I've been using Fischer cables for nearly 20 years. They are not so bad, but you will need to keep it clean. I've had few cables die on me, but over such a long time it's expected. I'd switch to a more modern cable but it would mean swapping out multiple ccr fittings, several shearwaters, etc. It's not worth the switching cost.

If you are starting fresh, get a modern connector. If you have a killer deal, there is nothing fatal about getting the fischer. They are just out of favor these days.

Ok the temptation grows..

It’s mostly where I stand — I’d prefer an AK personally (also a petrel, never tried a nerd)
But the deal is sweet

Hold on, can cables be swapped on the SW themselves? I assumed there’s no way turning a fischer nerd/petrel to a 4pin AK (without sending them up to HQ)

You can't realistically alter the shearwaters. Replacement required as far as i know.
