Hey folks,

As I said before I'm getting my scuba certification in May. All of my gear will be purchased for my birthday so I can save up for a celebratory dive trip in September/October for myself and a friend. I'm looking for somewhere decently priced, perfect for a beginner diver. I'm thinking the Florida Keys, but I wanna know what you guys think. I would most likely be leaving from Boston. Thanks for your input!

they keys are excellent BUT be sure to check for hurricanes. Sept and Oct are the end of hurricane season and Sept is usually very active. Have Fun!
 
If you can swing it, go to Cozumel. Try to book a three or four day package. Being a new diver, Cozy has many dive sites that you can gain much needed experience and it's mostly all easy diving. Just practice your bouancy control, it's all drift diving. Hope that you enjoy your trip!
 
The Keys are pretty easy dives... I did a discover scuba diving course there before I was certified, and have done a bunch of other dives down there afterwards..and always felt that they were good for my level at the time!


If you hit Key West use Captains Corner..VERY inexpensive even if you use a guide...also recommended is Dive Key West, they send a DM on most every trip.

If you hit Key Largo, check Blue Water Divers and dive with Brent..(who posts here often) I went out with his outfit and had a great time!
 
Looking at your profile I have to assume that you plan a summer of New England Scuba Diving. After that anything will be easy.

I plan on doing some NE scuba diving, but I'm done with the cold water. I've been NE snorkeling with wetsuits, etc all of my life. It's time to go somewhere a little warmer.

AMEN! (said the self procalimed warm water wimp!)

PA diving is just as cold! I'm sick of the 7mm! (not to mention the hood and gloves!)
 
Try 42! Not bad before the neoprene condenses! Ice cream headache from HELL! Hands get cold (even with the 5mm gloves) but it DOES feel nice on a hot day!

For some reason I miss it! hahahaha!!!

It isn't that bad...lol...I love diving PA and 3 mil hood and gloves are fine after march til May then October til November between that just a 3 mil FS unless going deep then a 7 mill with the 3 mil hood and gloves
