I would love to attend this event, and I've RSVPd on FB as a maybe. But I need to ask for some help, which I really dislike doing (being the wildly independent rebel that I am!)

I had major back surgery two months ago. By June 2nd I will be pretty far along with my recovery and hopefully much stronger (I'll be starting physical therapy in about 3 more weeks). But I will definitely NOT be able to stand up or walk with the gear on my back yet. I had a spinal fusion, and at that point the new bone will still be fragile, and I don't want to chance damaging it.

So....what I'm hoping is that I can enlist a few divers to help me gear up in the water. I'll need someone to carry the gear down the stairs and into the water, and also carry it back out again. I know that's a lot to ask, but this is the only way I'll get to attend. I'll be solo, since hubby can't take the day off work.

I'll also need assistance at the ferry terminal, since I can't lift my tank.

A couple people have volunteered on FB - which I REALLY appreciate! But I just wanted to ensure that I'll have enough volunteers willing to help out a temporarily disabled and painfully dry diver who is ACHING to get back in the water! And this sounds like the best way for me to do it. :)

I won't be able to make it as I'll be in MX still....hope you all have a great time!

But I did want to mention that Costco has Catalina Express gift cards....you get $100 worth for $80, so 20% off. You do have to call and make reservations (give a credit card to hold your spot, so they can charge you if you don't show up), but then pay in person on the day of travel.

Hey Leejnd. Glad to hear you are doing better. :)
Missed you around here the last few months.
We are planning on going for the DWADD and if you need help at the ferry terminal, no problem. We will be taking the 0615 out of Long Beach. Also planning to return on the 3:45, so if you are coming back at that time, we can get your gear to your car.
Hey if you want to gear up in the water, we can give you some assistance there as well.:yelclap:

I am sure there will quite a few folks willing to help out at the park.
We just need to figure out how to get from the ferry to the park.

Cab it, baby! :D That's what we did when we were there for our GUE Fundies class. I'll take the 6:15 as well, and we can split the cab fare.

Thanks for the offer of help! I really am dying to get back in the water. I've missed being around here too! But my back issues were really holding me back in my diving - I struggled mightily with many of the kicking skills in Fundies because of pain and nerve weakness. Once I'm fully healed I hope to be able to finally pass that class.

Anyway, look forward to seeing you on the 2nd!

HT, we'll miss your colorfulness...

See LeeAnne? Lots of helpful SBers so you can participate. I look forward to meeting you.
Just 7 weeks and counting...tick tock tick tock :)
