The dumbest thing I ever did was marry my ex-wife. That makes anything dumb I do while diving minor.:bonk:

I once threw my tank+BCD+reg (=my whole gear, that is...) at the water without inflating my BCD... It all went straight to the bottom, which was 35 meters deep !!

But I had not slept the night before... could this be used as an excuse ?

:upset: I thought my boyfriend would die laughing.

Nice to see that I'm not the only one that's descended on a snorkel. Salt water doesn't taste too good.:putz:

Then there's the time where I couldn't figure out why I couldn't go down  and then my buddy swam up to me and let the air out of my BC.

Almost 60% of you have never done something stupid and broken dive gear? I'm in the four or more group as in i don't have enough fingers to count the ways. IMO, if you dive long enough, "stuff happens" and Mr. Murphy rules.

The dumbest move that comes to mind is the interesting crunching sound an Aladin Pro makes when run over with by a truck. :bonk:

Why i thought the top of the rear tire was a safe place to put the thing is beyond me!

%100 of us have done something Stoopid.
Only %60 of us broke something doing that stoopid thing.
And this probably was only applied to Scuba diving as I am sure that %100 have done something stoopid somewhere that resulted in breaking something, somewhere. :tease: Me, I just broke a sweat just writing this.

I've decended on the snorkel before. You've never seen a diver do a regulator recovery and clear so fast... The out-of-the-box regulator mouthpieces are just about the same quality as a snorkel mouthpiece. Bottom line harder to distinguish. Just proves I don't always remember to do the 5 point descent - like I should. This is definitely a case of don't follow my example. However, funny thing ... it hasn't happened since I bought one of those custom mouthpieces that you have to heat in boiling water press your teeth into it, and trim it to fit. When it's not in my mouth I know it because of how uncomfortable the standard mouthpiece feels (ya get spoiled).

DiverBuoy, I don't mean to poke fun ( well, actually I do)...What kind of Horse**** excuse is it blaming the factory mouthpiece for mistaking the scuba regulator for a snorkel??? Did the new mouthpiece just happen to get onto the other side of your head where the snorkel is?

I am PERFECTLY CAPABLE of making that mistake ALL BY MYSELF!!!:loopy:

Personally, I have managed to make a dive to thirty feet before taking a drag on the snorkel--only to discover the regulator in my right hand. Ya'know, I didn't blame the snorkel or the regulator. I BLAME THE RIGHT HAND!! I have also managed to submerge with a prepressurized system only to discover that the air is actually off--it's amazing how much air is in the high pressure portion of the hoses. :bonk:

I suppose I should blame that on the LDS compressor because that's where the air actually came from!

:all: Admit it, YOU FORGOT! NaNaNaNaBooBoo! Just like the rest of us stoopid divers that have so much experience that we believe that a snorkel can supply as much air as our reg during a dive.

This is a picture of ME doing the same thing :drown:

I can't wait for Netdoc to take up where I left off.

So from one Dive Master to one Instructor...Have a happy New Year and keep breathing.

Have a good one! Jeez, what a perfect set up for this reply!!!

I admit to not always doing the 5 point descent routine - which is the only true reason I failed to switch. But what isn't clear ... is that it's been a long time since I've made that mistake ... before my pro scuba career actually. The routine is so auto-pilot now ... Though I'm quite certain I still don't always do the 5 point descent as I should. That's where my suggestion to do as I say not as I do comes into play. Oh and I never say never ...

The mouthpiece blabber is just for the purpose of attracting a post like yours :)

48 dives. Will hit 51 on Sunday. I'm so fired up. First trip with the new 50/50.

On my second drysuit boat dive a few weeks ago (in a rental) I leaped in without connecting the inflator hose to my inlet valve. After about 40 dives in a 7mm, the last thing I was thinking of was connecting a hose to my exposure suit!

That's about the lamest thing so far.

DiverBuoy,

Touchet and your are a good sport:)

Perhaps the reason is a...."Senior Moment"!
