How do the ring-mounted drygloves affect the life of latex wrist seals?

Do the seals return to their original size after haivng the rings attached or will they leak if used without the gloves at some point?

Drygloves and wrist seals

For some reason I couldn't help reading the subject line of this post in Julie Andrews voice! (Reprise of a post from some time ago...)

Drygloves and wrist seals and whiskers on kittens
Tank valves and S-drills and warm neoprene mittens
Blue H's on webbing, steel backplates with wings
These are a few of my favorite things!

Bright shiny bolt snaps on seven-foot hoses
Black colored mask skirts with purge-valveless noses
Argon and trimix and jet fins with springs
These are a few of my favorite things!

Frog kicks and fundies and J.J. and GUE
Wetnotes and slap straps and a surface marker buoy
Light heads and scooters clipped off on D-rings
These are a few of my favorite things!

When my job bites
When my wife complains
When I'm feeling sad
I simply remember my favorite things
And then I don't feel so bad!

Do you think Fraulein Maria was a diver?

May depend on the brand and how exactly they interface with the seals. Ive just removed my northern diver rings for the summer and my seals are fine - not stretched and dont leak after 10 months of being on rings.

The ring systems, like the SI TECH I use, generally attach to wider portion of the latex wrist seal, so the narrow portion is unaffected.

Leaving the rings on for long periods of time, such as several months, can sometimes trap crud and cause the latex deteriorate quicker.

Because it's so easy, I remove my SI TECH rings from my wrist seals after the last dive of the day. That and good routine care makes my seals last a long time. :)

My drygloves are about 4 months olds. I took them off a few times and put them back on and they seem to be fine. I once read that latex has no memory but will lose some elasticity after time. Most divers I know remove thier dry gloves for summer and have had no problems. On mine the bottle neck part of the wrist seal isint stretched at all when the dry gloves attached and that to me is the part that seals my wrist so no probs there.

Hope this helps.

OK, I did not see that coming!

My glove kit has the SI TECH ring mounts.
