With a 2 pc suit you could use a mix say a M/L farmer john and a L top (big shoulders), or some women its M top and L bottom. This give better fit with rental suits.
 
Henderson hyperstretch or the equivalent will solve your problems. They are really easy to put on and the warmth of them is outstanding due to how close they fit.
 
50% Water 50% Conditioner. Not only does it make the suit go on like a t shirt, but it's a whole lot of fun having everybody on the boat get lubed up!

For me it is. A well-fitting one-piece will bind down your torso as you go to put your arms in. This doesn't happen (or very little) with a 2-piece. The 2-piece also gives you an extra layer on your torso, adding some potential warmth, but also more bouyancy. I wear a 7mil john, 7 mil top and a 7 mil cheater vest/hood underneath.
