The Back inflate BC's do tend to put you in a more face down position on the surface. This is VERY much exeagerted generally by those who don't dive them. I tend to stay more on my back on the surface, but it's not difficult to stay upright.....

Depends, I bought a used Mares Synchro Tec in brand new condition from a guy that never thought about putting a couple of trim weights on the back plate. The first time I used it, it really pushed me forward and it was tiring to hang around on the surface. Once I trimmed it, it was fantastic at the surface and below. Whatever attitude you position yourslf in, it's stable.
When I saw the seller later on he asked me what I thought about the BC & then he really kicked himself when he saw how simple the solution was.

First Time Poster..Be gently!

I am looking to purchase a TransPac with a Venture Bladder DiveRite BC. One LDS (who does not carry this product) stated the rear bladder and pack will roll back and forth. He stated this product was designed for doubles rather than a single cylinder. Of course he suggested I go with the Sequest Black Diamond. I mainly dive in the warm waters with some cold water diving.

Does anyone have a Dive Rite BC that moves around on his or her back? Any help would be appreciated. If so, is the crotch strap necessary to keep the BC in place.

I need to move quick on a decision I am leaving for Cosumel on Saturday.

As others have stated, the LDS who told you that is just trying to sell you something. The TransPac II is a fine product, and the Venture wing will work great for warm-water diving. I've owned and used both products very successfully, as well as the TransPlate.

That said, I prefer the TransPlate to the TransPac II ... the backplate just feels more stable in the water. The harness is virtually identical on both products.

The crotch strap is not necessary for singles applications ... but it does make surface swimming more comfortable, as it prevents the inflated wing from "riding up" your back.
