The Back inflate BC's do tend to put you in a more face down position on the surface. This is VERY much exeagerted generally by those who don't dive them. I tend to stay more on my back on the surface, but it's not difficult to stay upright.....

Depends, I bought a used Mares Synchro Tec in brand new condition from a guy that never thought about putting a couple of trim weights on the back plate. The first time I used it, it really pushed me forward and it was tiring to hang around on the surface. Once I trimmed it, it was fantastic at the surface and below. Whatever attitude you position yourslf in, it's stable.
When I saw the seller later on he asked me what I thought about the BC & then he really kicked himself when he saw how simple the solution was.
