Thanks for the good information on Apex Regs! I'll add that link to the list.

You might want to make sure the URL points to the 'deeperstuff' directory on the WWW site, since mikey.net hosts a number of different things.

Currently, the URL claims to go to
http://www.mikey.net/deeperstuff, but the URl goes to
http://www.mikey.net.

Nate
p.s. Thanks for the tip on where to find your links. I was apparently confused. :)

Netdoc (or anyone who wants a "Magnehelic" Gauge),

I ordered the 2310 (5-0-5 in-h20) which appears to be the standard for checking 2nd Stage cracking and exhalation pressure.

To see prices, you need an account number.

Here's the long way to get a "temporary" account number:

From the Dwyer Home Page:

Click on <View Catalog>
Click on <If You Wish Pricing>
Click on <Click Here to Enter On-line Catalog>

You are now on the Catalog Login Page. At the bottom of the page it says:

*Note: To Obtain a Temporary Account Number to view products with pricing,
call Dwyer at 1-800-872-9141 or email us with your name and address.

The Easy Way is to click the email link I just provided, and ask for a temporary account number (include your name and address). I got the account number e-mailed to me in about 5 minutes (on a business day). I went back to the "Catalog Login Page", typed in my name and account number, went looking for the Magnehelic "5-0-5", added it to my shopping cart, and spent $61.50 plus S&H.

but I am curious how you have it attached to test. A tube stuck into the mouthpiece with an small tube coming out of the side? My old magnehelic is integrated with it's tube, so I can't seperate them. Just wondering how you did yours before I go and re-invent the wheel.

Pete,

The literature says it comes with:
Standard accessories: Two 1/8" NPT plugs for duplicate pressure taps, two 1/8" pipe thread to rubber tubing adapter and three flush mounting adapters with screws. (Mounting and snap ring retainer substituted for 3 adapters in MP & HP gage accessories.)
The first thing I'm going to do ($0.00) is stick the rubber tube in the corner of my mouth (Harlow).

The next thing I could do (maybe $0.00) is try a home-made doofer (about 2 inches of 3/4 inch PVC with the extra brass nipple from above screwed into the side. Maybe cut away the "in your mouth" part of an old mouthpiece and epoxy the remaining "on the regulator" part to one end of the PVC. Harlow mentions heating the PVC and forming it to shape.

What I should do is buy this for $13.50:
*EDIT* I lost the image. . . See next Post

I also realized (now) that the difference between a T20/TX40, and TX50 is merely 3 parts (if you don't consider the badging a part). The T20->TX40 requires the addition of a simple heat-exchangor, and the TX40->TX50 requires modifying the balance-spring adjuster so it can be done by hand, vs. using a tool.

Just out of curiosity - which bit *is* the "heat-exchanger" ?

I put "Yes but I am on my own", however this is only slightly true. I have help. My dive buddy is a Beuchat tech, but is not affiliated with a shop. The two of us tune our regs before each dive, and he is teaching me to service them. I do not touch them without him watching me.
