Nice, Dale ... that should be ScubaBoard's theme song ...

Before this thread gets the gong all I would add is as one who was originally pushing for a solo forum to be instituted I was not in favor of it being in the tech section. It has devolved to the point that I rarely visit it anymore specifically because of the rants of the usual tech suspects when ever a member post doing a solo dive not according to the way the tech believe it should be done.
Although moving it out of tech into advanced will not dissuade the the usual suspects warning of imminent death to the unwashed.

Disagree Bob - it's good but Aretha Franklin would be a better choice :)

Think (think) think (think) think (think)
think (think) think (think) think (think)

You better think (think) think about what you're trying to do to me
Yeah, think (think, think), let your mind go, let yourself be free

Let's go back, let's go back, let's go way on back when
I didn't even know you, you came to me and too much you wouldn't take
I ain't no psychiatrist, I ain't no doctor with degree
It don't take too much high IQ's to see what you're doing to me

You better think (think) think about what you're trying to do to me
Yeah, think (think, think), let your mind go, let yourself be free

Oh freedom (freedom), freedom (freedom), freedom, yeah freedom
Freedom (freedom), freedom (freedom), freedom, ooh freedom

There ain't nothing you could ask I could answer you but I won't (I won't)
I was gonna change, but I'm not, to keep doing things I don't

You better think (think) think about what you're trying to do to me
Yeah, think (think, think), let your mind go, let yourself be free

People walking around everyday, playing games that they can score
And I ain't gonna be the loser my way, ah, be careful you don't lose yours

You better think (think) think about what you're trying to do to me
Yeah, think (think, think), let your mind go, let yourself be free

You need me (need me) and I need you (don't you know)
Without eachother there ain't nothing people can do

Oh freedom (freedom), freedom (freedom), freedom, yeah freedom
Freedom (freedom), freedom (freedom), freedom, ooh freedom

There ain't nothing you could ask I could answer you but I won't (I won't)
I was gonna change, but I'm not, if you're doing things I don't

You better think (think) think about what you're trying to do to me
Yeah, think (think, think), let your mind go, let yourself be free

You need me (need me) and I need you (don't you know)
Without eachother there ain't nothing people can do

(To the bone for deepness, to the bone for deepness, to the bone for deepness, think about it)

(To the bone for deepness, to the bone for deepness, to the bone for deepness, think about it)

(To the bone for deepness, to the bone for deepness, to the bone for deepness, think about it)

(To the bone for deepness, to the bone for deepness, to the bone for deepness, think about it)

You had better stop and think before you think, think!!

"My right is bigger than yours!"
A little poem.

A young friend came to the house today
We talked about a sport we like to play
He used a curse word - just in jest
I put my finger to my lips in mild protest.

"Not in front of my kids", I said.
"But you use that word all the time!"
"Yes, but not in front of them ... please!"
"But they hear it everywhere."

He is absolutely right, of course.
And I am right, too, for a reason he will not understand.
You might say we are equal, but I say no.
Because my right is bigger than his.

My kids will grow up and see the world, and
All the ugliness and depravity they could possibly ask for.
But I need for them to know that there is also a shining city on a hill -
Filled with joy and peace, courage and nobility.

Because if they don't know that, they will never raise their eyes.
Their minds will never cry out for justice,
Their hearts will never fill with hope.
They will never strive to be better than me.

Hmmm, the poetry dance hall solo scuba technical recreational forum. I like it.

(R-E-S-P-E-C-T, find out what it means to me... damn, dbulmer, now I'm off on a Motown jag)

If anyone cares I'm still pulling for the "alternative diving concepts" sub forum for topics not currently taught by mainstream agencies (I think solo diving would fit there even if one agency does provide a card). This would certainly end the "you gotta take a course for that" and endless comparisons to the "correct" way of doing things. I'm planning to make a shallow water diving helmet soon and need some place to talk about it.........

If you and VooDooGasMan success in your drive to win the world over to your vision of diving, you can do it without my interference.

You are twisting meaning out of thin air; no words even half way resembling that have ever been typed by me!

Speaking for myself, I am, and have been, trying to get the main "Recreational Diving" forums of this World Wide Scuba Forum to more accurately reflect the way the vast majority of World Wide "recreational" divers are diving.

As I see it; VDGM is trying to get information to at risk divers, information that those divers will likely not seek out through formal instruction. That is not out of line with what I am trying to do, "deep air" is something that is happening across the Wide World of "recreational" diving; we agree that divers at risk should be able to find information to lower their risk.

:idk:

I don't consider my solo diving to be either rec or tec as I am doing it for my work as a marine biologist. I do some dives that might be considered tec, but I don't really care about labeling my diving (except as work-related for the IRS!).

....along with the Tech Solo card one member claims to possess...

Not quite sure why you thought you felt you needed to word this quite this way. Seems to me you felt you needed to call into question my credibility or you don't actually believe such a cert exists. Not sure why????

Not only do I claim to possess it - I actually do possess it and anyone can look the existence of the cert up in about 5 seconds on the ANDI site. Which is really more relevant to the discussion than whether or not I actually possess such a card. Here is a list of the tech courses offered by ANDI.

(Personally don't care if it is a tech cert or not - I just needed a cert that would allow me to solo dive off boats that require such a card. )
