Wetwork for Hire
All I can say is God bless you guys and anyone who risks their own life to rescue or recover another person, often times someone they've never even met. I find it comforting for my family to know that if I were the victim of such an accident, divers would be ready to drop what they're doing and make the sacrifice to bring me back to my family. Thank you guys for that.
I'm also grateful for ScubaBoard and the A&I forum. I've learned a lot from studying these incidents and the many threads and discussions I've participated in on here. Those who participate regularly are likely to be better and more knowledgeable divers and that is all credited to the Internet and sites like ScubaBoard. It would take thousands of dollars and many hours to acquire the knowledge shared here without the internet.
However, there's usually a caveat for most things in life and it's no different here in the A&I forum. I see no harm in possible speculation as long as the poster disclaims it as such and there's a relative connection to the topic and incident. For the most part I think contributors here are pretty good about keeping the discussion focused. But, I often learn more about diving from the what if's and the subsequent solutions than the actual incident itself. The mods here do a pretty good job keeping the A&I forum in good order.
So, that said. While condolences are not intended for this thread it's hard to not say a prayer to the families and hope they find the strength to carry on and hopefully the good memories they shared with the departed will be a source of that strength. So God bless you and know you're in our thoughts.
As for this incident. It appears there is much to be learned. I have a lot of questions. I will wait before asking them in the hopes that more information will come to light. I'm actually shocked and thankful that we have received as much information about this accident so far. Some may already have all the answers. Some may know what went wrong and how to prevent it. That's great for them. It does not helps us the least bit if we don't know too. If the family doesn't want the information shared then I respect that. If they are ok with it, then I believe law enforcement, recovery and rescue teams and investigators owe it to us to give us that information in a reasonable amount of time. Otherwise, the next recovery could be from a person who might have been able to avoid a similar fate had they simply had the information.
Anyways, thanks again to everyone. Safe diving.
