I just spent friday last week flying in a helicopter over goat island. It has been many years since I was in the water there, but there are some very cool places to dive just outside the park.

am I the only one or does this thread actually interpret as:

NETDOC..... SET UP A NEW ZEALAND FORUM.........

I am sick of posting in the Austrailia pacific forum. that doesnt really include us. Please Dude, I shook your hand in Vegas, I post regularly, I dont flame DIR, I dont even give Jonnythan a hard time anymore for being a newbie, give us a godzone forum... Please...

Finally did 2 dives at the Poor Knights and pinnacles. Water was around 16C and viz was something between 20-25m. The dives where awesome and after a while the water wasn't that cold anymore (the SI was...). Really enjoyed them, now I gotta work on my airconsumption. Couldn't stay under longer than 35minutes at around 25m. Think it's got something to do with the watertemp and maybe I have to get more relaxed.
Although is was a bit cold, it won't stop me doing more dives, just gonna wait a bit longer for the water to become more tropical...

Yes the city has expencieve rent. I live 40min out and pay $100, mind you its not the Ritz. You could try trademe.co.nz they have a flats and flatmates listing. Or a Real estate agent. Are you going to be working here? What are would suit you best?

We went out to Leigh reef yesterday and the temp was 14deg and vis 10m. And we all agreed that the SI was colder than the water. We also managed to get 100 scallops from Omaha while dodging a comercial boat dredging. I must say they are the biggest I have had so far this season.

Yes a NZ forum would be nice wouldnt it, There is enough of us on SB to warrant it I belive.

Come on one of guys must want to buy my car! You can fit heaps of dive gear in the back and get to all the great dive sites real fast in it. LOL

Yes, it would be nice to have a NZ forum!
Sorry for the silly foreigner question but what's this "SI" that was cold???
Yes, I'm planning on moving to NZ and getting a job in the advertising/film industry here. I'd love to work with diving (instructing or filming) but I don't know if I could manage to have to get in the water everyday in weather like this. Perhaps with a dry-suit...
About the car I'm looking for something a little bigger like a small SUV - more specifically a Freelander to fit all my diving and video gear. If you know someone that's selling such a car, let me know please.
I think it would be nicer for me to live in town as most of the ad agencies and film production companies are here. The rental and parking prices are the ones that kill... apart from that it should be really nice to live in the CBD...
Well, I wouldn't mind to be invited for your next diving trip so I could experience how diving is here. I promisse I won't complain too much about the weather! LOL :)

PS: do you use MSN messenger? Would be nice to get in contact with you as I'm looking forward to make some Kiwi friends!

Cheers, guys!

How do I put this "instructor logo" behind my login info on my posts?
When I click "edit diving info" on the user's CP I only get a blank page (using Mac OS X.4 with Safari)...
Cheers.

Freelander? Oh. We call those Remuera tractors in NZ. ( You will not get that joke till you have been here for a while). More status simbol that practicality.
No MSN but my mobile # is on my car auction. Always keen on meeting new dive friends and Im out every weekend the weather permits and a few weekdays in between ( ah the benifits of being the boss). To be honest im sick of asking people to come for a dive so now its an open invitation that I will extened to you too. If you want to come out just call or txt when ever the weather is good.
Autowerks in Greenlane (10 min from CDB) are a 4x4 specialist car yard that I can recommend. Just make sure you call me to fit some sounds and security to protect all your video equipment.

I agree completely. We do need a kiwi forum... There are plenty of us on board.

BTW Mark, there is fantastic diving around Goat...The best being the Leigh Caverns. I have a few secret spots around Kawau as well so don't be shy and come for a dive sometime.

Hey Packhorse...I am keen for this weekend. Just gotta get the doubles hydro'd this week. Wanna take your boat or mine?

Packhorse:
Haha. Always keen. And I need some more practice with the doubles too. Shall keep an eye on the forecast. Where are you thinking of going?
Am thinking of Flat Rock then maybe Motoketekete. If we have enough gas left I know a nice scallop bed as well.
