My wife doesn't dive either so I have to take her above water needs into account too. I like the Marriott and have an account with them but lugging gear a mile pre dive is not my idea of fun.It might not be a good idea also. Since I'll just do a long weekend maybe I'll meet a friend and do it solo.

You think Fort L is good diving? What exactly is there to see and what are some of the sites? Good to hear Pro Dive is a good op.

Well, Marvel recommended a shop http://scubafortlauderdale.com/directions.htm that is adjacent to the Hyatt ( 2301 SW 17th Street) on the Intracoastal. (There's another marriott nearby that hotel - The Marina Marriott at 1881 SE 17th Street ) That might be the ticket, or post for some beach-diving buddies closer to the trip.

Ft. Lauderdale has everything to offer that the Keys has without the drive. Boat and shore diving (the best in the state, and easy), wrecks, deep and shallow dives, reefs, artifical reefs. What else do you want?
Best Sites? Pick up Ned DeLoach's Guide to Underwater Florida. There are too many to choose from depeneding on what type of diving you are planning on doing. See Padipro's links in his trip report for more help.

Thanks. As good as KL without the long drive sounds good

That looks nice. How far is that, Hyatt and Mariott Marina, from the Lauderdale airport?

And a good dive op next door?

I haven't used that particular one, but It got 2 thumbs-up in this thread alone. I emailed them about charters for my upcoming trip to FLL Next weekend.

It's American Dream Dive Charters

I'll be in Boca Fri, Sat, Sunday. Mon and Tuesday will either be Boca or FLL or Somwhere in between.

Just emailed them for rates. That's very helpful, Paul. Thanks
