Probably an oilers fan too....that would just seal it.
Dude, why do you think I'm leaving nothing on the rink around here. :cool2::mooner:

Hi,
Looking to do checkout dives in Tampa and in Cozumel if possible. Trying to get some referrals here in MI too. Thank you for your information and reply.

"And"...? If you can do both days in Tampa and get them done, that'd be best. To do day-1 in Tampa then day-2 in Coz might be possible, but there could be complications.

I have never taken a cruise, but I know many of them offer scuba instruction. Check with yours. It may be that the best choice is to allow an on-board instructor to take care of everything.

I didn't think along those lines as I think they charge a good bit more for dive trips, but for 2 days of certification - might be best. Holly didn't say how long she'd be in Coz, but I am guessing just part of one day like most - and if that is correct, maybe the onboard Instructor could handle the certification at two different ports? Depends on the ports too; my daughter & grandson are doing a cruise out of Galveston that only stops in Coz and Progresso, and I don't know of any scuba at Progresso? Perhaps, but certainly not listed on their excursions nor anywhere else I have looked at about the port.

Been on 12 cruises and none of them had scuba instructors on board, but then maybe I just frequent cruise lines or particular ships that don't offer that.

Mateo at Aldora is a phenomenal instructor. He is patient and packed full of knowledge. The guy lives and breathes scuba.

Here's the thing about Aldora...

They use steel 120s to maximize bottom times, and they give you one heck of a dive...we were there 2 weeks ago, and among our group was my 80 year old dad, and my newly certified girlfriend. They had a lot of trouble with the large steel tanks, although the divemaster was incredibly helpful throughout the dive, adjusting weights and such.

It took me a few minutes into the dive to get comfortable myself. Several of the other divers also stated that it was a rather different experience for them. By the second dive everyone did great.

So new divers, especially "smaller folks", do need to be aware that those steel 120s require a bit of getting used to.

They do have smaller tanks as well if you really want them.
