I'm very surprised to hear that it is okay to keep quiet in the US and Canada. In the UK, an insurance policy is considered a 'contract of utmost good faith'. Anything that could affect the risk must be declared, even after inception of the policy. Wherever in the world you live, the best advice IMO is 'if in doubt, ask'. The OP will now have a record that he made the enquiry, should the unthinkable happen.
There was a good talk by renowned technical diving instructor, Mark Powell, on the subject of solo diving. He discussed a common misconception that solo diving will void your life insurance policy. He said he asked whether he was covered for diving. The answer was 'yes' - up to 30m and as long as he was under the supervision of an instructor. He then pointed out he was an instructor. When they came back to him, they said they would cover him with no adjustment to his premium within the limits of his certification.
