I just don't log dives
Seems like after 55, diving is like a Russian roulette. After reading yearly DAN reports, it is the age when body often is not up to the physical task for many of that age. Though, I am sure, many do keep themselves in shape.

Well, I'd hate for my death on a trip to put a damper on any others' trip or day for that matter, but I'd rather keep hitting the hiking trails and dives as long as it's reasonably safe than hide at home waiting. God forbid I end up in a convalescent home. Many consider those humane, but not by my view.

Older people die more regularly than younger people irregardless of what activity they carry out. That's the way it is so I don't know how DAN statistics stack up.

It's true that unhealthy people should probably not be diving. But I don't see a problem with older people diving if they don't have any health issues and are well trained. Some older people have huge amounts of diving experience to draw on.

I'm 69 years old and average over 100 dives per year, many of them solo. There are 40 year old people that appear to be unhealthy enough that they should not be diving and there are people older than me that look to be the epitome of health and are exceptional divers.

My 39 year old son has been diving since age 12 and occasionally asks me to "take it easy on him" when we buddy up.

I don't want dive operators to start "age testing" divers and any that start discriminating based solely on age will not see me again.

I'm 66 been diving for 40 years been an Instructor for over 30 of those years am more active than most 20/30 year olds I get a check up every year by my D.A.N. certified doctor .

I watch people half my age struggle to climb the ladder at times .....maybe they are the ones playing Russian Roulette

If I die while diving from a medical event I probably would have died from the same event if I was sitting on the couch.

I remember training you at Tec 40 & 45 -- You worked to keep up with me & I passed that 55 threshold a while back dude...

Thank you, James, for your feedback, finally. Since you scarcely communicated with me before and after the dives during training me for Tec 40 & 45, if I get to receive a dive feedback in this forum, I'll take it. Is there more to share?

Nope - Just the briefings we had before and after each dive as well as the knowledge reviews and written exams. Do you need more stroking :poke:

Get a room guys! If someone as old as Jim can dive, then I've got another 30/40 years of diving left. These are my last few weeks of being fifty something. :D :D :D
