My brother in law just told me he heard on WATD Marshfield that an unconcious diver was recovered from the water near the nuke this morning. I hope he's OK.
Anyone hear anything else on this?

I followed up with the news director at WATD, and here's what she replied:

" Yeah, that one was a toughie. The diver had no ID on him so
when we called the fire department/EMS there was no name on record. When you call the hospital, they are not allowed to release information unless the caller provides a patient name. With new privacy laws, they can't even comment on whether or not someone in the described scenario came through. I fear this is going to be an even greater problem in the future."

I was thinking about this a bit more... I have an ID taped inside my cycling helmet with emergency contact and blood type (just in case), and was wondering, does anyone carry any identification on them when diving? I know, your buddy should always be with you, but some people dive solo.

More details from the news dept at WATD ...

he had a medical arrest while under the water and was
unconscious when he came to the surface. Not known for sure if he had a preexisting medical condition, but it's strongly assumed that he did.
He had no pulse when he was taken on the dock, but doctors at
Jordan reported finding one (or at least that's what the dep. fire
chief said).

I am still trying to determine if he had a buddy

My husband I just got ID tags ,Through Dan, which we can attach to our BC s. We usually stick pretty close together but the tags seemed to be a good idea. They have our Dan number, emergency contact, etc

...And only a year of experience...

All of the deaths so far this year could have been prevented -- they were all solo divers. When will people learn?
