Scubastud16:
im 18. just got into it this summer.

Ask people if they have any used stuff they want to give you.

I'd be willing to bet you know people who used to dive or got certified for a vacation then never went again, or bought cheap "starter" equipment, then decided to upgrade.

There's a ton of equipment around that could get you diving for not much more than a "thank you" and the cost of the service.

ok so I will be 24 next week been diving three years this month. . . Love diving with older more mature divers, they tend to have better aditudes than alot of younger divers ;)
IE went to St. Lawrence river dove with a 50 some Y/O guy and loved it!!!!

I'm just happy to be in the majority this time, at least at the time of
this post and the survey results....aged 49, diving for 7 years,
and loving every minute of it!!!!

hubby had to first teach himself how to swim when he was in his mid 30's to learn to dive and hes 45yrs old now and teaching scuba... his oldest student has been 74yrs old and his youngest 12yrs old

the child is now 13 and diving with us, im 38 and been diving for about 7yrs

money is a huge factor - the child only has all her own gear because of us (and she hasnt washed our cars for ages because of the drought!)

I'm 16. I got certified this summer and I've managed to get a couple dives in since then.

From a 22 year olds perspective: this thread is very encouraging, I'm glad to see that diving is something I'll be able to do for a very long time.

yes, i would love to be diving at 67+ years! lets hope

I'm with ya! 28yrs and cert for 14. I hope that at 28 you're not concidered an old timer.

I am 50 yrs young and just got certified in May. I now have 32 logged dives and have dove in both Florida (Molasses Reef) and Maine (Nubble lighthouse) as well as many lake dives in upstate NY. I have been a snorkeler and boater for years and years and FINALLY took the next logical step. Just wish I did it when I was 30 years younger. Of course, I can afford it much easier now than then.
