And if the diver guard fails to recognize your breathing and puts you in an uncontrolled ascent?? Just another thing that can go wrong. Keep it simple stupid KISS

A stuck inflator button can do the same thing, Just unplug the LP hose and problem solved.

This may not be somethiing that everybody will want or need, but at least give credit for innovation and trying to bring an item to market that may prove to be a safety development.

I do not know if this thing will be worth a damn or not, but I am willing to keep an open mind until it is proven otherwise.
 
Indeed,I can imagine this to useable perhaps with rebreathers in a blackout scenario? Prototype for future innovations checking respiration and employing emergency inflation
