Hello folks, I am teaching a class next month for some new employees and I cannot find my divermaster manuals to save my life. The training we are doing is a combination of diver/tender/entangled diver rescue training.

What I need it this, I can't remember all the signals (tugs) for the tender. I remember a constant solid tug is "pull me up", 2 tugs is "Im OK", and 3 is "Im on target". Ha, now that I think about it those may be wrong.

Anyway, can you folks point me in the correct direction? Thanks in advance for all of your help.

Here is one system that we use. There are, unfortunately many systems, but this is a common one. Hope this helps.

Tugs:
one--tender to diver--are you OK--diver to tender--I am OK

two--tender to diver--stop or turn and go other direction
diver to tender--need slack

three-tender to diver--surface now
diver to tender--found target

four---tender to diver--stop and stay down
diver to tender--need help--send assistance

Do you know where I could get info on some of the other systems?

Each agency, such as Dive Rescue International, and Lifeguard Systems, for example, uses a slightly different system. Also, teams tend to set their own protocol. I would try the websites for those agencies for contact numbers, and talk to any teams in your local area.

Thanks for your help. I'll research it some and get with the divers from our state police department and put together a unified program.

Here's the ones we use (LGS). I've used/seen a few others and these make the most sense to our team

Tender to Diver
1 Stop/face the line/take up line tension/are you okay?
3 Go Right
4 Go Left
2+2 Search the immediate area
3+3 Stand-by until further notified
4+4 Come up

Diver to Tender
1 I am okay; or if after a tender signal other than a 1, please repeat the signal
1 If a spontaneous signal, profiler make a notation

2+2+2 Diver has a problem and is attempting to resolve problem without assistance. Alert safety diver
3+3+3 Diver is OK, buts needs the assistance of the safety diver
4+4+4 Diver needs immediate assistance.
non-stop 4 tugs until the back-up diver has made contact.

6+6+6 Object/body found

This is the system that the dive team for the Rocky Mountain House fire dept uses.
Not too complicated for part timers that don't get to see non-chlorinated water for many months at a time.
Pool practice on Sunday.
