Diver bit in head in Maldives. Hulhumale site called shark tank.

Obviously short video and happened quickly. Only thoughts to attempt to prevent something like this would be to be closer to buddy and group? Maldives is known for baiting the waters at dive sites which likely plays a role.

Diver very fortunate. Absolutely wild.

Will be there in a week and this is unsettling.

Wonder what the diver was doing so casually separated from the group floating around in murky waters infested by Tiger sharks? During my dive trip there we were were told to strictly stay close in a large huddle when arriving at and leaving the feeding spot and within an arms length when kneeling down in a circle watching the feeding …

Ouch! Nasty. :jaws:

Another thought, DO NOT wear a 'brightly coloured hood'! :shark1:

Better, stay near someone who is wearing a brightly coloured hood. :rofl3: :poke:

I've read that sharks don't see colors, just contrast.

That’s the point: everyone is wearing all black and something stands out in yellow, white or pink, guess what’s for dinner. 😬
But red or blue or green or purple won't stand out, so "brightly colored" alone doesn't say much.

And from a different angle. (Hope they had some Aspirin on the boat. :shakehead: )

Gotta love the reporting! "........................... the shark sneaks up behind the diver and grabs him by the head shaking the diver around and attempting to swallow him for a meal. Luckily, the diver escapes while the bloodthirsty shark gets bored .........."

Hehehe I am in Maldives and this news got around.

I have not lost my head to any Tiger Shark yet but see them on every dive.
Best is when they follow you out to the open ocean to see what you are up to.
