I'm not rich but scrounged enough for trip to cozumel. Who should I go with. Dive with martin has great reviews and much much cheaper. But aldoras claims to have much bigger tanks. Opinions on who I should go with. More dives versus less longer dives (assuming Thier tanks really make longer dives)

Do you want/need bigger tanks? For me, that’s the deciding factor and for me “now”, the answer would be no. I’m happy with 45-60min dives. But many people like dives longer than that. I get it.

Well only ocean I dived in was hawaii. I was bit sad that after 35 mins had to come up. That was in shallow reefs. I feel like in deep cozumel waters I may need the bigger tanks but would see less dive sites as cost for 7 dives with martin is 205$ and foe aldoras its over 300$

Ok then, if that is the case and an AL80 is only lasting you 35 min. then it would make sense to go with a bigger tank. My buddy and I have not had the problem of being limited by air. And we never felt like we didn’t have enough time under the water. So I think you’d be a good candidate for Aldora’s bigger tanks! I hear they also have boat coats, which are sweet if you chill easily on surface intervals!

Id try to fix 35 minute bottom times? IN shallows no less.

I used to be an air hog with similar bottom time issues; to this day I like big tanks when I can get them. Of course, experience, ease in the water, learning to relax/calm down, maybe learning you're overweighted and how to get by with less lead, these things can help get your gas consumption rate down. But in the mean time, big tanks rock.

Judging from Dive With Martin's website, for a small upcharge they can provide 100-cf tanks.

Do you have your own gear or need a wetsuit? From that same web page for Dive With Martin:

"
  • All prices include FREE rental gear, including BCD, regulator/gauges, fins and mask (based on availability)
  • Wetsuits (3 mm shorty), dive computers and dive lights are available for rent on a daily basis"
If you plan to rent gear, that might impact the cost difference between the op.s.

I'm not weighing in on who to pick, just pointing out some publically available details that might interest you.

Richard.

I have used both.

DWM is a decent OP, but you should be prepared for cattle boats and cruise ship divers.

Aldora is excellent, but as you pointed out, more expensive. Ask for Adrian (female) or Jorge (male) if they're still around.

Dive with martins leave at 7am wouldn't that eliminate cruise ship passengers?

I will need gear. Minus flippers and mask. I included the gear price into original post. Do you really need a wet suit in june?

I have very small lungs hold my breath maybe 20 secs tops. Not sure if that causes more air. I was in water about 45 mins at 55 feet in lake Travis when got certified but didn't move as much. I'm really out of shape maybe numbers will be better as I lose weight
