Well just got to really good deals. I can get a zeagle VI with razor ocot and bc hose for 407. I can also get a Dive rite 3000 with scuba max octo and bc hose for 400. I know what i am leaning towards but cant make up my mind. I hate decisions like these lol.

I like the idea of the Dive Rite and it seem like that is a deal that is almost impossible to pass up. The cheapest i have seen the 3000 is $369.00. I would eventually add the ice attachment to it.

Looks like you have a winner.... but .... the Flathead VI comes with an evironmental seal, nothing further to add.... sorry, couldn't resist one last chance to create confusion :D

I think you'll be very happy either way, just choose the set-up that makes your heart go pitter-patter :D

Good luck.

Absolutely - if you overthink your decision now, you'll end up to continue to think about it afterwards, generating what us marketers call "post-purchase dissonance" or sometimes referred to as "buyers remorse."

Pick one and GO DIVING!

:D

Thats what i am working on doing. Both the zeagle and dive Rite appear to be equal. Both have good warranties and customer service from what i have researched. From what i found both are US companies. It is just a matter of deciding what i want.

One last thought: How cold is the water you'll typically be diving in to start with? That piece of info could be the deciding factor between the regulators, since everything else seems pretty similar for you.... I think most reg manufacturers consider "cold" to be anything below 50 degrees F....... if you are certain you'll be diving warm water initially, then evironmental sealing is not an issue and you have a lot more choices. I know you had mentioned ice diving in a few years.

Good luck.

I found out that the Dive rite has the ice kit. Right now it is probably in the mid 40's. Last time i went to the quarry it was 52 and at the bottom around 43. This winter hopefully i will dive in the mid to upper 30's if i have the right suit. I'd love to dive some of the wrecks in the great lakes.

Buy from the person that you intend to stay with as your dive shop. There can be no end of trouble from jumping from shop to shop. I am going through that now.

Whatever you choose, think about local support. If your reg needs to go to the factory an LDS you work with might lend you a reg if you want to go diving. Just something to think about. A point in zeagle's favor is that they will always take the reg directly to service if you have, ehm, trouble with your original shop of purchase. I sent them my ranger bc for some work and got it back in record time.

43 degrees sounds plenty cold to me.... brrrrr... that's about 30 degrees colder than my last dive here :D

Get the ice kit if you have decided on the Dive Rite. It sounds like the dives you are planning this winter will require it.

Now, go buy a regulator already!!! :D

Best wishes.
