I'll be very disappointed if this doesn't get me a thumbs up from @BoltSnap .

Hahahaha, I owe you a big hug and kiss, Libyan style :)

Thanks. You don't have to bother with the obvious marketing stuff, but it would be nice to know if he drops any real info.

It's a little confusing. But unlike a piston first stage, the working parts of diaphragm first stages are always sealed anyway by the diaphragm. Environmental sealing just keeps water away from the back of the diaphragm. This can be useful in extreme cold at high workloads or extremely dirty water if you are careless about rinsing your regs after use. But it has no advantages for the dives that most people do.

And it does have some minor disadvantages of extra cost, a little bit of extra weight, and for most regs (but not the Mares TBP kit), a slight decrease in IP consistency.

Ignore everything I said above. A pair of MK17Evo + a c370 at 570EU is a great regset at a great price even with the serviceable, but not great octo. Jump on it.

So you'd go c370 over the s620ti?

Are you going to be diving in water temps that are <10C? If so, then go with the S620Ti. If not, the S620Ti is a better second stage, but the C370 is still fantastic.

I'd choose the S620Ti.

Although I am confused about how many regulator sets you must buy for CH diving, if you aren't diving in <10C, get one set with an S620Ti and the backup with a C370 if you are buying two regulator sets. If you are buying only one set but need an octo, then go with an S620Ti and a C370 for an octo.

Ok I did the unreasonable thing and ordered the mk25/s620tio_O

I'll test it on a weekend trip to spain in february I think

So you just need to have your main second stage and octo on individual first stages, like a usual cold water config.

In the pack I ordered, the octo is an S270, which i will keep for now.

Good choice! If you ever want to dive with a twinset, just get a another Mk25 and you'll have perfect hose routing and headroom!

I am going to CH/Zurich in February or April :) I want to dive there in May in the lakes when the frogs are doing their love dance there.

Excellent choice!!

Are you ordering just one first stage, the MK25, with one primary second stage, the S620Ti, and one alternate second, the S270? Or are you ordering two first stages with a second stage each?

I have the S270; ensure it is set to the higher end of cracking pressure per mfg. Specs. The dive shop should do that for you. The S270 is an excellent second stage, but it needs to be tuned down when used as the alternate second stage. Don't tune it down too much, just enough it doesn't free-flow when used as an octopus.
