I would like to start using a backplate, but the problem I have is that I want to stick with one system.

Currently I dive singles using my Transpac II and Rec Wing. Can you dive singles using a Dive Rite backplate, utilizing the Rec Wing?

In speaking with some backplate people they recommend that only doubles be used with a backplate, because a single tank would sit farther away from a diver's back and not be as stable, and that it would be best to keep my single tanks on my Dive Rite Transpac II and Rec Wing.

Is there anyway to to setup a backplate to have the tank sit closer?:)

Having a single tank further from your back than it will be with a Transpac is inherent in the design of metal plate BC's. The single tank adaptor will move the tank another .5" away from your back.

I personally think that the rec wing is too big for single tank use, although the dive rite website says that that wing can be used for single tanks. Is your wing bungeed?
