About the customs issue. There would be no duty upon import to the US since DR CCR are made in the US. As for reimportation after service to the EU, there are usually classifications for reimportation after exportation for service/warranty work. I’m a licensed customs broker in the US. I’m sure there are similar options for reimportation after service in the EU. You only pay duty on the value of the service.

Thanks Marie13. Yeah, technically if it's marked as "warranty/service" then i would have to pay any customs duties + VAT just on the work done. Just I am worried that when the EU customs agent sees the value of the unit on shipping manifest (or insured value), there might be some questions along the line "why don't you now prove to us that you have paid the duties/VAT on the unit in a first place", which could prove tad problematic if unit turns out to be a "gray" import :wink:
Of course it might also just go through, but it's a bit of a gamble.

Just poked around in the EU tariff online. Doesn’t easily show the duty like the US one does. That is similar to the HS code for self contained underwater breathing apparatus in the US tariff. Contact your local customs office and see what they say about duties.

Thank you. This code seems to mean only 1.7% customs duty, so definitely nice. Just the damn 19% VAT remains :D

In Belgium? Yes, and they have insane customs that will pick on about anything. And admin fees everywhere. Ordered something from outside Europe once there, never again.
This is why i will use my 2nd address, in Germany :wink:

Check to make sure that HS code covers a CCR import for the EU.

What's 7) a carbon tank? and secondly are you asking in 8) has anyone jury-rigged a CMF in the chop?

I have very limited experience on rebreathers (150 hrs) my amateurish view:

+'ve, the chop seems to trim out much better than a rEvo, -'ve, the WOB on the chop is not as good (in my non-CE test approach - opinion), but may be similar if lungs are held high on chest/in front of chest (i.e. super-manning). +'ve, Donning and doffing the chop is better. +'ve: Building the chop seems to be faster. -'ve: The chop doesn't have RMS -'ve: the chop doesn't have dual scubbers. -'ve: the Chop is a Dil-out solution so you cant save money on cheaper Nx bailout. I.E. Dil pp02 = Bailout pp02, whereas rEvo Dil pp02 <= Bailout pp02. -'ve: Durability rEvo has Titanium case Chop has canvas. Finally +'ve, +'ve the chop can adapt to to your current O/C style be it Singles, Doubles, Sidemount, simply by clipping on the front of d - rings, travelling is a breeze.

Aren't all chest-mounted rebreathers harder WOB than backmounted? Simply because the pressure is greater underneath your lungs that above them.
