:The Oxygen Deco Regulator is not intended for use deeper than 50 ft (15m) on appropriate gas mix."

I assume this is not a big deal because the gas you intend on using cant be used anywhere near 50ft?

Bingo. Well O2 CAN be used at any depth...and you can’t fix dumb.

It’s $320 without pressure gauge per OP’s link. The stage reg package from DGX or DRIS are $300 and include a pressure gauge. So not cheap.

$219 at divers supply....less if you are military or an instructor.

320 Australian $

Beside that, what's the problem in having a dedicated reg for my deco bottle which I will use from 15 meters to 0?
It's cheap, it's light weight, it's a nice bright green...

The argument is usually that all your regs should be high performance regs...and if they are all the exact same...even better...so you can swap parts and such.

Well, in an ideal world, I'd be so rich that I would pay someone to rinse my gear after every dive...
Since I'm not living on it, I'm trying to save some money where I can...

A used Scubapro piston (mk10,15,20,25) and a g250 can be had on eBay for less than this junk reg.

That is the question is this reg "junk" ie low quality or just minimalist?

Enlighten the world AJ on why it’s junk. Does the color offend you?

I have a Hollis O2 reg that is just like the DR one. I used it for my 80% (MOD 30fsw, to he who asked) or O2 bottle when I first started tech diving.

Since then, I repurposed a pair of Dive Rite XT1/2 regs to be my deep and shallow deco regs.

The cheap reg was okay. But, I have found that I really like a compact reg with a swivel turret better for a deco reg. It gives me much neater hose routing for when the hose is stowed (or deployed, depending on how you set it up).

Also, having a 5th LP port on the bottom (of a swivel turret reg) makes it a viable and neatly routed option to use a deco bottle for double duty as a drysuit inflation bottle, too.

Well, if you can’t use it below 50’, I’d qualify it as junk :)

I also don’t think using color as an identifying method for gases is smart, but that really doesn’t have anything to do with the quality of the reg.

It also has an OPV... why? The 2nd stage is the OPV.
