How are people setting up their deco bottle for xdeep. I am going to be bottom mounting a 40 cubic foot aluminum. I have a mk10 and mk2 first available. What hose length? I can also switch my reg to uncommon side (lp hose inlet left size.). Thanks for any insight.

Maybe talk to your instructor?

First stage doesn’t really matter, but would lean MK10 with 36” hose. Either rig as standard DIR rigging using a kit such as Light Monkey or do something like this: The Adjustable Stage Rigging Kit - ProTec Dive Centers | Cave Diving Playa del Carmen & Tulum, Mexico

Proper MOD markings on each sidepotentially an MOD on the bottom of the bottle, 6” SPG hose either flag against the cylinder or cave line tied bending 180°, no weird colors and follow proper switch protocol.

I don’t know what you mean by ‘bottom mounting’ but the typical scenario for a deco bottle in SM is to carry it as you would a stage; i.e. clipped to a drop D ring and a chest D ring. Mine goes on the right side with my stage on the left.

In another thread you asked about the MK2 vs MK10 for high FO2 mixes and I gave you my opinion, which is that the MK2 is an ideal 1st stage for oxygen use.

I should have said anterior vs posterior relative to the main tank. Seems like anterior as you mention is the most common. I took your advice and went with the mk2. I put the NOS safari cover on the g250 and now I feel like a time traveler.

I guess mine is "anterior". I have bungees on both the bottom hose clamp and around the tank neck to which the clip is attached. This pulls it in close and I can pull it forward/backward to help in unclipping and whatnot. Works well for me.

I use a 40" hose, but I don't have a swivel/turret on my first stage so I found I needed the extra length. With a turret I would probably run a 36". 2nd stage it set up regularly, hose routes behind my neck like a long hose. SPG is on a 6" hose and sits on the tank.

Label your stuff properly, don't rely on colour etc as you would learn in a course and the rest is golden :)

I still don’t know what you mean, but I’ll guess that ‘anterior’ means on the stomach side of your sidemount tanks and ‘posterior’ would mean on the ‘back’ side, as in ‘on your back’. If that’s right, everyone that I’ve ever seen does it on the stomach side. It’s basically like slinging a stage or pony. I have to say, if this is news to you, I would certainly seek some instruction before carrying stages and/or deco bottles. A good stage class and/or AN/DP with an instructor who teaches in sidemount would be very helpful.

I took a cave stage class in SM after having done over 100 cave dives in BM and SM, and after carrying bailout bottles of varying size in OW for years. The class was still one of the hardest classes I’ve ever taken; the increased task loading and demands on buoyancy/trim when carrying a stage into a cave with restrictions and zero vis scenarios was pretty challenging.

You won't be able to read the MOD markings if its posterior. Hence, deco bottles go anterior
