I think the little get togther we had in Monterey was a lot of fun. We had better vis than Saturday and the Breakwater wasn't nearly as crowded as it was the day before. I dove with Vince for my first dive of the day. We tried to find the Metridium fields but were unsuccessful. The second dive proved to be much more eventful as we were visited by a lone sea lion and later his two buddies showed up on our way to the Metridium Fields. :)

Video of one sea lion...forgive me for the shakiness and color as I'm still learning to use my camera underwater.

Initially, we started off with 4 groups of 2, but by the time we got to the fields, we seemed to have lost a pair. Thank you Wayne for getting us there. Had a nice swim back, but guess we weren't watching our air close enough, because Vince got really low and we had to surface. After we surfaced, we tried unsuccessfully to get a cute gal in a kayak to tow us in, but alas, it was a surface swim for us. :) All in all, I think it was a really fun day.

General Photos of the day.

I'll upload some video of the metridium over the next day or so.

Awesome! Thanks wdunne! I will try to post some of my photos this afternoon when I get home from work.

As for the rest of the day - it was AWESOME! It was really great meeting up with the group and hanging out - diving, immensely enjoyable company, burgers, lots of sunshine (ouch! my sunburn is killing me today!!! :) ) and just a really awesome time. I can't thank you all enough for coming out and having a good time. We'll have to try and do this again sometime - perhaps in September.

Dangit! Sorry I missed this trip, but trying to drive n dive on three hopurs sleep (thanks to the jerks 3 houses down having a raging all night party for 45 of their closest friends) didn't seem like an overly stellar idea. This was the 4th time I had to scrub my dive plans there. Monterey HATES me :(

Aww....I missed it, then again I hardly can ever dive on Sunday unless its in the afternoon.

I think next time I might shoot for a Saturday instead - the only reason being that, by the time we got home last night, cleaned the gear, hung it, showered, etc, it was 9:30 and I had to get up at 5 am. Can be a bit hard - nice to have a day to relax.

That being said, I think I am going to shoot to do an entire weekend down there at some point soon since the diving was so enjoyable yesterday. Although, it might have been a bit of an anomoly (sp).

You have my vote on this idea...the weekends of Sept. 1, 15, and 29 would work best for us. Todd

I got this weird sunburn on my back from where I had my semi-dry open during our surface interval. :)

And ScubaCrash, maybe you should come up the night before (if feasible) and crash (no pun intended) at someone's place. That way you don't have to get up so early. I have a comfy couch.
