I was in Coz earlier this year and dived with my trilobite, because I never dive without it. Nothing was said, and I had no idea they are supposed to be prohibited.

What difference does it make? When I dive the Cozumel marine park, I follow their rules. To do otherwise would be disrespectful, IMO.
Going along with that, probably more common to get injured accidentally vs not having one when you needed it. Just a thoughtEasier for the park to ban equipment that is extremely unlikely to be needed, than to give all divers an IQ test.
