I have a DAN membership but usually use Dive Assure for my travel/dive insurance because I like that Dive Assure offers Primary insurance. My question relates to a non diving accident during a dive trip. It appears that both DAN and Dive Assure only cover $50,000 for medical. For Dive Assure, that $50,000 has to also include evacuation which seems incredible low. When I called Dan, I was told that the same was their policy. My husband and I are both in our late 60's so this is an important piece for us. Should I purchase additional medical travel? What has been peoples experience when they have had a non dive related injury. FYI, we live in the United States and are traveling to cozumel and roatan in the near future. Thank you for your thoughts.

If you look at the medical coverage, both limit non-diving to $50,000. However, I did just notice that DAN Elite increased medical, non diving, to $100,000. I will call them again regarding the emergency medical transportation to make sure it covers non diving accidents. Perhaps I was not clear or I misunderstood them. Thank you
Do you have Medicare Part G? They cover foreign travel health treatment up to $50k. (Lifetime benefit). Does not sound like a lot but most countries that are not the US don't charge $250 for a Band aid.

It isn't clear to me exactly what you're asking, but keep in mind that DAN Membership covers some things, and the theoretically optional Dive Accident Insurance covers other things. If you're concerned about evacuation insurance, then consider the Enhanced DAN membership, as shown in tursiops' screen shot. If you're concerned about DAN's medical insurance for accidents that are not dive-related, that's different, and the amount may depend on your state (NY?). If you're concerned about medical insurance for illnesses, etc, that are not accidents, that's different still. The latter is often covered more by so-called travel insurance than by the DAN policies. I have purchased travel insurance occasionally for coverage of illnesses. On some other trips, I purchased GeoBlue for just medical coverage. I assume you have checked with your US-based insurance to see to what extent, if any, they may cover illnesses while on brief trips outside the US.

There are also premium travel credit cards that cover medical evacuation. I have the American Express Platinum and Chase Sapphire Reserve, those two coupled with DAN should hopefully cover me for everything. During the pandemic I bought supplemental travel insurance that would cover forced quarantine but I no longer do that now that those restrictions are no longer in place.

You need to separate in your mind Dive Accident insurance from Travel insurance. Dive insurance may appear to include some bits of travel insurance, but its really focused on dive accidents and associated costs, and not a substitute for travel insurance.
DAN membership includes TravelAssist, which includes a big chunk of evac insurance thats not specific to diving.

Like you, my wife and I have these cards; as we will soon resume diving (principally in Mexico and the Philippines) after several years away, we'll soon purchase DAN cover as well.
Very interested to hear your take on which cards or DAN policies best cover your specific needs.

I think most people will be fine with DAN's enhanced membership and highest tier (Guardian) of dive insurance coverage. You can see the difference between regular and enhanced membership here. Enhanced has 500k of emergency medical transportation, search and rescue coverage and global security evacuation.
You can compare DAN's dive insurance packages here (you'll need to put in your state). Guardian has additional coverage for accidents, death and disability. If I remember correctly my DAN membership and insurance is around $200 a year which I'm happy to pay.
When it comes to premium travel cards I feel pretty well covered by my Chase Sapphire Reserve. I'd just recommend reading what each card covers and seeing which one meets your needs. Here is an overview of Chase Sapphire Reserve.
