I received this a couple of hours ago from Dive Assure.

Dear DiveAssure Partner,

Following the recently published news on the dispute between DAN USA and SSS hyperbaric chamber network, the DiveAssure call center has received many inquiries from both members and partners asking whether DiveAssure has been having similar issues.

Hyperbaric chamber treatment costs have indeed increased tremendously in the past few years, a phenomenon that is weighing on all diving related insurance programs. However, DiveAssure, through AIGAssist and AIG Claims Services, has settled a large number of claims in recent years without any payment issues with any medical facility. DiveAssure coverage is accepted worldwide without exceptions. It is also worth mentioning that coverage under all of the DiveAssure programs is primary.

Can you give a link to that site...?

I go this from here: http://www.diveassure.com/new/usa/page.asp?name=The_Insurance_Providers

I'm not quitting DAN, but then it is good to have other options, and we do want accurate info here...

Wow - this is not good! :11:

Here's the advisory...
Thank you for considering membership in the DiveAssure association. Please note that although residents of all States can join the DiveAssure Association and enjoy its many benefits, at this time, the diving insurance and assistance programs are not available as a membership benefit in your state/territory. If you wish to join the DiveAssure Association, you can still take advantage of the other benefits of a DiveAssure membership. Please check this site often for updates on the availability of the insurance and assistance programs in your state or click here and we will let you know when they become available in your State.
Also looks like they might exclude you for coverage in Belize, British West Indies, BVIs, Caymans, Fiji, Mexico, Netherland Antilles, and several other places indicated in red. Don't know why else they'd have those under "states"? I wonder if I understand this correctly...??

I'm sending an email and asking....??

Bummer. Me and hubbie have DAN. Doing Blackbeards in June. We'd better be extra careful. Peace of mind is worth a lot. Hate to hear this news.

Oh, I think DAN will take care of you okay. See this thread.

I received a reply, but wasn't clear, so I called. Their system will allow you to hold for one minute, then cut you off. :11: But they did call me back from their caller-id.

It seems that their coverage is good "anywhere in the world," including those I asked about above. It's just that residents of "Belize, British West Indies, BVIs, Caymans, Fiji, Mexico, Netherland Antilles, and several other places indicated in red" cannot purchase their insurance. A dive center in Mexico might offer the insurance sales, but not to locals or residents of certain US states.

So, the problem is not as feared, and the lady I spoke with agreed that they need to clarify that on their web site.
