Chicken...abate one with sense, but never the less...chicken

oops...now there's no way I can back out gracefully...me and my big mouth

I'm just waiting for DawgDiver to decide that while discretion is the better part of valor, letting the rest of the SEC show up for a dive with Georgia terribly unrepresented is... well... frankly, it's unconscionable.

Okay, that didn't work... let's see... um, normally, the water, especially on the bottom, is *much* colder than the air, and the thermocline's a killer. Dive now, and the water will be *warmer* than the air, and you won't even have to deal with a thermocline's sudden temperature drop. Seems like cheating, but there you have it. :D

Okay, let's see... um... We'll give you a box of cookies if you come dive? :D :D :D

Oh, I give up. ;)

You guys, this is seriously beginning to sound like a suicide mission....a test of wills....nobody wants to be the first to back out...especially after what I said to Frank:D ...the only "Girls" diving are me and Mojospos...Uno, isn't it a scientific fact that females freeze faster than males???:D The thought of the cartoons where the character pops up out of the water in a block of ice comes to mind...

Oh never mind, Dawg backed out...he gets the prize for being the chicken...
:chicken:

sorry Dawg...but some body's got to take the fall:D

I'll be there regardless. If I don't catch a cold on my trip to DC then sunny Phoenix this week, then I'll dive at least once.

ClayJar:
...will make terrible jokes at the expense of the poor souls in wetsuits? :D

I predict that Clay (as in Uno, not you snep) might get his jar broke if he jests....

Ohhh, I'll be there...can't back out now...of course my truck might not start Sat morning...

Okay, so what do we have so far.....an ear ache, a cold, a truck that won't start....hmmmmm, I'm going to have to REALLY get creative to top these;)

Well you could try the old, "I don't have any shoes to match my wetsuit" excuse

J. and I actually had an interesting scientific discussion about that. (Others may have been relegated to snide remarks, but we have lots of intellectual curiosity.)

Our consensus was that guys posess less "insulation" and greater surface area to mass ratios, and would therefore be more susceptible to clinical hypothermia. However, those of the feminine persuasion have a greater temperature sensitivity due to a higher concentration of temperature-sensitive neurons in the skin (I think she'd read something about that, or had extrapolated to it from something).

So, they'll feel cold first, but we'll die of hypothermia first. I guess as long as I manage to survive, I've got the upper hand, but a drysuit would make you feel warmer(er?).
